#FoodFriday: SACHI.LA

I am mind. blown.

I recently started drinking decaf coffee just for a change and have been quite disappointed with my options at many different coffee shops. To my surprise, I recently came across this new coffee shop in town, specifically Del Rey area, and it was incredible!

The owners are 2 sisters who are half Japanese half white, and I had the honor of meeting Sachi when I visited, who also shared with me that SACHI means happiness in Japanese :)

It’s been a long time coming for a GOOD coffee shop to open up on this side of town and I’m so happy to support this local mom/pop, or shall I say, sister/sister shop! Not only do they have great coffee, they also support local artists and have some small shop items there as well!

Their shop is located at 4574 S Centinela Ave Los Angeles, CA 90066

#FoodFriday: Elephante

The chic-est new restaurant in on the Westside in Santa Monica with a beautiful rooftop view!

Think of their food as healthy Italian! And their pizzas are a must try! I especially like the Soppresata one! Also the Gemelli squid ink is a delicious dish as well. And of course, if you're in the mood for some libations, I recommend the "elephante" and picking your poison... you won't regret it!

Definitely make reservations because this is a popular place!

#FoodFriday: Din Tai Fung

The amazing xiao long baos are finally here! I'm sure we were all waiting for the day they opened in the newly remodeled Century City mega mall and then all waiting for the line to be short.

Hot tip: Go at the very beginning of lunch or right at the end of lunch around 3pm for shorter lines ;p

If you love Taiwanese food, you'll really enjoy this franchised delicious restaurant called Din Tai Fung. Some of you may know that there is one in Glendale, Arcadia and South Coast - and lucky us Westsiders, we finally get one in Century City!

This place has everything from fried ring, beef noodle soup, scallion pancakes, spicy wontons, and of course their famed xiao long baos (small dumplings with soup). Super delicious before or after or even in between your shopping sprees. I highly recommend the spicy wontons and their baos.

Silicon Beach is The New Los Angeles

Gone are the days when Los Angeles’ only exports were dazzling Hollywood pictures or sun-soaked tourist spots. The tech boom has moved swiftly through town, putting a stake in the ground (or sand) as the new Silicon Valley by fostering innovation and acting as a benefactor to a new vibrancy on the coast.

Silicon Beach distinguishes itself right off the boardwalk: Snapchat offices border Ocean Front Walk in Venice, giving employees a chance to dip their toes in the Pacific Ocean on a lunch break. Over 500 tech companies like Google, SpaceX, Tinder, GoFundMe, Riot Games, Netflix, Hulu, and Facebook have fueled a massive swell of prosperity: Silicon beach leads the latest surge in home growth in Los Angeles.

The tech scene has brought a renaissance to the city, infusing it with smarts, friendliness and variety. We took a closer look at some of the fixtures that make this burgeoning enclave the best place to not only work hard, but play hard.

PLAY

Bohemian, laid back vibes transition like the nearby waves as the tech boom introduces innovation and creativity to the city. Due to this shift, those who call the West Side home are lucky to indulge in a new array of alluring beach activities and hot spots.

#FoodFriday: Great Shark

As you all probably know, I have a deep love for the ocean and sharks, so naturally when I saw a cute restaurant in Venice called GREAT SHARK, I had to check it out!

What I love about this place is that they are healthy foods! Location is amazing as well, located just at the Venice boardwalk. They've got a decent amount of outdoor seating and great coffee!

I ordered the Coco Island salad with the salmon and it was cooked fresh and delicious!

And when you go...see if you can find where the communal water is. Ha ha ha, come back and let's have a laugh together! 😉

#FoodFriday: Eataly

It's finally here after 2 years of waiting (okay maybe only 1 year but it felt like 2!) 🙏🏻👏🏽🙏🏻👏🏽🙏🏻👏🏽

One of my favorite Italian restaurants has opened up at the newly renovated Westfield Century City mall! I first fell in love with Eataly in New York, then travelled to Italy and had it there, then their Boston and today their new Los Angeles location! 💕💕💕

Not only is their pasta so amazingly delicious, but they also have the freshest market there! So basically everything they serve and cook with is for sale in their market. They've got a section for seafood, a section for meat, a section for cheese and olives and crackers, a section for fresh made pasta and so so much more. I could literally go on for days.

And on their bottom level of the restaurant there is a gelato and coffee section -mmmm!! If you find yourself at this mall, please do me a favor and just swing by! You won't regret it - there's so much to see and check out! Enjoy!!! Maybe we'll run into each other there soon! 😜

#FoodFriday: Marugame Udon

This place just opened up about 2 weeks ago and is the hottest new udon spot in town. Their udon is so soft and freshly made there on the spot. You literally see them make it right next to where you order.

Located on Sawtelle where all the other delicious Asian restaurants are, the style is reminiscent of Lemonade (right next door) in the way of cafeteria style! I thought ordering was going to be hard because there were big menus in my face, but the lady was very nice and showed me how it was broken up in 3 sections: one for udon, one for fried foods and the last one for rice bowls - oh yes and drinks last but not least.

I ordered what the lady said was most popular... #5 on the menu NIKUTAMA UDON (hot). Softest udon I've had in a long time and very flavorful soup base to compliment it. My sister and I also ordered a couple of the fried foods. I think they could make the a little bit warmer.

Definitely worth checking out if you're in the Sawtelle area. And they have a parking lot in the back with valet!
