While perusing through my Facebook recently I saw a friend post to petition an annual dog meat eating festival in China.

As I dove into more pages starting from an article by the BBC (you can read here) I grew more and more helpless. It's sad to realize but there is a lot of animal cruelty around the world, and not just in China.

Seeing this reminded me of an event I attended recently hosted by the non profit organization called I Stand With My Pack. They are an organization that

aides in the prevention of animal suffering and cruelty through means of education, hands-on field work, fundraising, non-violent protest, legal action, and collaborative efforts with other organizations & governments.

This was their first annual A Night for Compassion which featured a wonderful evening of inspiring guest speakers, delicious vegan foods and cocktails and an awesome silent auction. My point with this blog was really to bring awareness that there are organizations (many many of them) that help to raise awareness because I believe it first starts with awareness, information and then making informed actions.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this!
